2) WHY WAS RAJKUMAR SHUKLA DESCRIBED AS BEING RESOLUTE?
1.Ans: Rajkumar Shukla was emaciated peasant from champaran of Bihar who also suffered the exploitation and injustice of the British landlord system like the other peasants. So , he made up his mind to go against this landlords system . He made a planned to met the leaders of Indian national Congress party. Finally, he went to annual convention in Lucknow where he met Gandhi and told him in details about the exploitation and injustice of the British landlords system in Bihar. He also urged Gandhi to visited champaran for helping about it. But Gandhi excuse that he had a many appointments to gone to many city's of India . Since , Shukla was resolute so , he didn't leave gandhi's side and accompanied with him everywhere he went. This tenacity and story impressed Gandhi and he fixed a date to visited champaran. Thus Shukla success in persuading Gandhi to visited champaran.

3. Why did the British landlords ask compensation from the sharecroppers?
And: In champaran the British landlords compelled all the peasants to planted 15% of their holding with indigo and surrendered the entire harvest as rent. But when the British landlords learnt that Germany had developed synthetic indigo and the indigo plantation was no more profitable. Hence, the British landlords extorted money as compensation from sharecroppers to get rid of 15% arrangement .
4. Why did the servant of Rajendra prasad thought Gandhi to be another peasants.
Ans: Since, the servant of Rajendra Prasad had never seen Gandhi before. But they knew Shukla as a lowerclass poor and untouchable peasant. Since, Gandhi wore simple attire like peasant and accompanied by Shukla . Therefore ,they mistakenly thought Gandhi could be another peasant and an untouchable person.
5. Why did gandhi considered the champaran episode to be turning point in his life?
Ans: In india, the champaran episode was the first revolt to build a mass movement against the British landlord . In this movement Gandhi fought against the injustice of the cruel British landlords. The British landlords extorted money as a compensation from the share cropper but champaran didn't begin to defiance . This movement build by gandhi to remove the distress of the poor peasants. It was the symbol of the Gandhian movement. The success of camparan episode was the first victory of the civil disobedience in modern india. The money which was refunded was not important , the most important thing was that the British landlords had been compelled to surrender a part of money and with it a part involved of their prestige. Previously they behaved as lord above the law , after surrender the peasants realised that they had right to defend themselves and they learnt courage . For the Indian peasants this episode was the beginning of the liberation from the British. For this reason gandhi considered the champaran episode to be turning point in his life
